Description

  • Inspect and commission newly constructed and energized depots, and develop sign-off processes for acquired operational sites.
  • Validate voltage stability, power quality, phase balancing, grounding, and other energy-quality requirements.
  • Assess as-built construction quality, including conductors, raceways, terminations, equipment mounting, clearances, and access.
  • Analyze single points of failure, redundancy gaps, and installation risks across the depot portfolio, prioritizing remediation.
  • Provide remote and on-site technical support to field technicians and reliability managers for complex infrastructure issues.
  • Train field technicians on infrastructure architecture, safe work practices, troubleshooting, and equipment procedures.
  • Support operational readiness and performance of chargers, vehicles, BESS, solar canopies, V2G systems, and other energy integrations.
  • Partner with Construction Electrical Engineering, Energy, and Procurement to improve equipment selection, maintainability, and reliability.
  • Review projects for operational readiness, including access, serviceability, spare-parts strategy, and long-term maintenance.
  • Develop infrastructure standards, inspection and commissioning checklists, and operational documentation.
  • Cross-train with Charger Reliability Engineering to build shared technical coverage across infrastructure and charging systems.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in electrical, power, or infrastructure engineering with substantial field experience.
  • Experience in EV charging, utilities, energy, fleet depots, or related environments preferred; field service engineering experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience training, mentoring, or directly supporting field technicians in person and remotely.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA electrical safety requirements, NFPA 70E, and arc flash principles, with the ability to apply and teach them.
  • Strong knowledge of medium- and low-voltage distribution, including switchgear, transformers, conductors, grounding, and protection.
  • Experience with AC and DC fast-charging systems and how equipment selection and installation affect reliability and serviceability.
  • Exposure to metering, surge protection, temporary generation, and distributed energy resources such as BESS, solar, and V2G.
  • Ability to diagnose systemic failures across a portfolio and drive cross-functional resolution.
  • Electrical engineering degree preferred; PE license not required.
