Description

  • Chair and facilitate Engineering Change Control Board meetings for Engineering Change Requests, Engineering Change Orders, and Engineering Change Notices.
  • Own the end-to-end engineering change management process from initiation through implementation and closure.
  • Review change requests for completeness, technical accuracy, and business justification before board review.
  • Coordinate cross-functional impact assessments with engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, regulatory, and program management teams.
  • Classify changes and route them through the correct approval workflows.
  • Maintain change control documentation, meeting minutes, decision logs, and audit trails in PLM/QMS systems.
  • Track change status, cycle times, and backlog, and report process metrics to leadership.
  • Ensure traceability between change requests, requirements, design documents, and verification/validation activities.
  • Enforce configuration management principles across hardware, software, and documentation.
  • Identify and escalate high-risk changes, conflicting priorities, and resource constraints.
  • Drive continuous improvement of change control processes, tools, and templates.
  • Support internal and external audits by ensuring change records are complete and compliant.
  • Train and coach engineers and stakeholders on change control procedures and best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in engineering change management, configuration management, or product lifecycle management.
  • Experience chairing or actively participating in change control boards in a regulated or structured engineering environment.
  • Strong understanding of configuration management principles such as EIA-649 and ISO 10007.
  • Hands-on experience with PLM/PDM or QMS systems such as Windchill, Arena, Agile PLM, MasterControl, or Propel.
  • Excellent facilitation, meeting management, and cross-functional communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess technical and business risk.
  • Experience working with engineering documentation including BOMs, drawings, specifications, and requirements.
  • Certification in configuration management (CMPIC) or quality (ASQ CQE/CQM) preferred.
  • Experience with Agile or hardware-software co-development environments preferred.
  • Six Sigma or Lean process improvement experience preferred.
  • Prior people management or team leadership experience preferred.
