Description

  • Develop a working understanding of the team’s domain and technology stack while seeking guidance to build technical expertise.
  • Implement small-to-medium features with support from senior engineers and deliver work to agreed timelines.
  • Write code that follows established coding standards and participate in code reviews to learn best practices.
  • Collaborate with team members to understand feature requirements and implement solutions with guidance.
  • Build reliable and maintainable software components with a focus on quality and team deliverables.
  • Use version control systems to manage code changes and maintain a consistent development workflow.
  • Participate in team meetings and sprint ceremonies, including daily stand-ups and sprint retrospectives.
  • Take part in learning activities such as game days and training sessions to learn company tools and processes.
  • Troubleshoot and debug issues with guidance to resolve common software bugs.
  • Support the team’s delivery pipeline by helping optimize code quality, testing standards, and deployment practices.
  • Participate in on-call duties as assigned by the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year of industry experience in a Software Engineering or Development role after academic studies.
  • Experience with Node.js and JavaScript.
  • Familiarity with Postgres, Elasticsearch, Redis, SNS/SQS, Kubernetes, Helm, and CI/CD tools.
  • Familiarity with writing unit tests and test-driven development frameworks such as NUnit or Jest.
  • Basic understanding of distributed systems fundamentals and how to build reliable components.
  • Experience using collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, and GitHub.
  • Willingness to work fully remote from anywhere within Northern Ireland.
  • Ability to participate in on-call duties.
  • Experience with modern development workflows and code review processes (preferred).
