Description

  • Lead legal matters for OKX’s business operations in Central and South America outside of Brazil.
  • Assess, secure, and maintain regulatory licenses for the region in collaboration with global legal, compliance, and licensing teams.
  • Conduct legal research on cryptocurrency and digital asset laws and regulations.
  • Evaluate OKX products and services for licensing and compliance implications and provide legal advice.
  • Advise on legal and regulatory aspects of strategic initiatives in the U.S.
  • Draft, revise, and submit licensing maintenance and application materials and regulatory reports.
  • Communicate with federal, state, and other governmental regulators regarding licensing efforts.
  • Oversee corporate, litigation, and regulatory matters and supervise outside counsel as needed.
  • Collaborate with product and business development teams on company-wide initiatives and goals.
  • Manage additional legal requests and advise business leaders on legal risk and strategic considerations.

Requirements

  • Active license and credential to practice law in a Central or South American country outside of Brazil, preferably Mexico.
  • 10+ years of relevant regulatory licensing experience at a top-tier law firm, federal or state regulator, or in-house legal team.
  • Experience in a financial services-related industry or other highly regulated environment, preferred.
  • Experience with regulatory reporting obligations such as call reports, virtual currency permissible investment reporting, license renewals, and regulatory exams.
  • Experience advising on cross-jurisdictional matters and building relationships with international regulators, including in El Salvador.
  • Experience engaging with national regulators.
  • Experience managing legal and cross-functional teams and driving projects to completion on expedited timelines.
  • Strong academic credentials and excellent writing and analytical skills.
  • Must be highly driven, proactive, responsive, and precise.
  • Comfort working independently in a fast-paced, growth-stage, multicultural environment.
  • Ability to advise business teams effectively and build trust with stakeholders.
  • Project management experience with superior organizational skills.
  • Enthusiasm for blockchain technology and understanding of the relevant legal and regulatory landscape.
  • Familiarity with the NMLS system, preferred.
