Description

  • Track and analyze laws affecting the platform, including FCRA, TCPA, Fair Housing, consumer protection, FTC/marketing, and data privacy.
  • Deliver clear, decision-ready legal guidance to help the business manage risk and move quickly.
  • Partner with Product, Marketing, and Operations teams on real-time business decisions.
  • Translate legal requirements into practical, actionable recommendations that teams can implement.
  • Support and improve compliance frameworks, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform audits of developing and existing federal and state regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate initial investigations and fact-finding with customer support.
  • Support responses to regulatory inquiries, audits, and enforcement matters.
  • Handle day-to-day legal questions involving host matters, customer escalations, and general business issues.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for legal and compliance intake, triage high-volume requests, and escalate higher-risk issues as needed.

Requirements

  • J.D. degree with an active bar license.
  • Active bar license in Texas, Florida, or Georgia preferred.
  • Ability to work East Coast hours.
  • Approximately 5+ years of relevant legal experience.
  • Familiarity with FCRA, Fair Housing, TCPA, consumer protection, FTC/marketing, and data privacy laws.
  • CIPP/US certification is a plus.
  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Ability to apply nuanced judgment to complex legal scenarios and practical risk assessment.
  • Experience partnering with Product, Marketing, or Operations teams.
  • Experience managing high-volume legal intake and prioritizing effectively.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, evolving startup environment.
  • Ability to work independently and know when to escalate issues.
  • Clear, concise communication skills that can influence decisions.
  • Authorization to work in the United States, with E-Verify and I-9 completion required.
