Description

  • Design and develop safety analyses that support the safety basis for reactor license applications.
  • Review regulatory documents, codes, and technical requirements relevant to licensing and safety analysis.
  • Develop technical strategies for safety basis and licensing work.
  • Execute engineering analyses, including modeling and simulation.
  • Perform quantitative and qualitative safety analyses.
  • Develop analytical and computational methods and models.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary regulatory and design teams to define facility requirements and mitigations.
  • Manage projects for an interdisciplinary team of engineers.
  • Contribute to licensing projects and key licensing deliverables.
  • Document work clearly using modern tools and produce thoughtful technical reports.

Requirements

  • Proficiency with thermal-hydraulics analysis.
  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in a technical field such as nuclear, mechanical, or aerospace engineering.
  • Experience with systems-level analysis codes such as SAS4A/SASSYS-1, SAM, RELAP, TRACE, GOTHIC, or equivalent is highly recommended.
  • Experience with reactor transient analysis methods.
  • Fluency with Python.
  • Core competencies in heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics first principles are a plus.
  • Professional experience developing or amending safety case analyses for high-hazard or highly regulated facilities is a plus.
  • Prior experience developing or amending safety bases and associated documentation for NRC-licensed or DOE-authorized nuclear facilities is a plus.
  • Experience with specific safety analyses such as steam line break or fuel relocation analysis is a plus.
  • Knowledge of fast reactors and fuel cycle activities is a plus.
  • Competency with modern software engineering practices and programming languages is a plus.
  • Experience with CI/CD computing environments is a plus.
  • Ability to communicate technical content clearly in writing and verbally.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, highly iterative startup environment.
  • Willingness to learn quickly and work independently with limited guidance.
