Description

  • Perform mechanical analyses across a range of fidelity, from hand calculations and textbook methods to detailed finite element analysis (FEA).
  • Evaluate structural performance for stress, creep, fatigue, vibration, temperature limits, and other failure modes.
  • Interpret and apply engineering standards and codes such as ASME, ASCE, and AISC to define design limits and acceptance criteria.
  • Document analysis methods, results, and design justifications in clear, traceable, and reviewable technical materials.
  • Summarize findings in reports and presentation slides, including key metrics and design revision recommendations, and present results to management and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with design, manufacturing, quality, and test engineering teams to support design decisions and product development.
  • Coordinate with external vendors for additional analysis support when needed.
  • Support the creation and refinement of product requirements.
  • Plan and execute validation and verification activities, including physical test programs to validate assumptions and requirements.
  • Develop and maintain in-house analysis methodologies and best practices to improve consistency and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, materials engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 4+ years of industry experience performing mechanical or structural analysis in energy, aerospace, automotive, defense, industrial machinery, or advanced manufacturing.
  • Experience performing structural analysis using FEA tools such as Ansys, Abaqus, or COMSOL.
  • Demonstrated ability to write comprehensive technical documentation and reports.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a multidisciplinary engineering environment.
  • Strong foundation in structural mechanics, strength of materials, and analytical methods.
  • Additional expertise in dynamics, creep, fatigue, and heat transfer is preferred.
  • Master’s or PhD in engineering is a bonus qualification.
  • Strong programming skills for automating analysis workflows, preferably in Python, with good software development practices.
  • Familiarity with the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, including Section III Division 1 or 5, Section VIII Division 2, and nuclear-specific code cases.
  • Experience developing and managing product requirements and associated test and verification plans is preferred.
  • Familiarity with configuration management and version control systems such as Git or SVN is preferred.
  • Must travel to Oklo headquarters in Santa Clara, CA twice per quarter as needed, and be in person for the first two weeks of onboarding.
  • Employment may be contingent on successful completion of a drug screening, and employees may be subject to drug testing in accordance with company policy and applicable laws.
