Description

  • Draft, negotiate, and manage a range of commercial agreements.
  • Provide legal support for product and sales initiatives as Nuvei develops payment solutions for merchants worldwide.
  • Advise cross-functionally with sales, products, legal, and finance to align product constructs and commercial agreements with internal policies and applicable laws.
  • Assist with managing and monitoring litigation matters across Canada and the United States.
  • Liaise with external counsel as needed on disputes and legal matters.
  • Interact daily with business lines including Operations, Compliance, Sales, Marketing, and Finance to address legal needs.
  • Support legal review of information technology contracts and payment services industry issues.
  • Handle a variety of legal issues under tight deadlines while working independently and collaboratively.

Requirements

  • Member in good standing of the Barreau du Québec or another provincial bar, or licensed and in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in commercial and/or transactional law.
  • Experience working in regulated industries.
  • Experience drafting and reviewing information technology contracts.
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations affecting the payment services industry.
  • Working knowledge of anti-money laundering regulations, the Bank Secrecy Act, and money service business regulations is preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with PIPEDA, GDPR, and personal data protection issues is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of cryptocurrencies and alternative payment methods is a plus.
  • Experience with ACH payments and NACHA rules is a plus.
  • Excellent negotiation and drafting skills with strong interpersonal and relationship-building ability.
