Description

  • Design, build and release mobile features from technical scoping through post-launch monitoring.
  • Write production-quality native code in Swift/SwiftUI or Kotlin/Jetpack Compose with strong test coverage.
  • Evolve mobile architecture, including modularisation, state management, networking, offline behaviour and cross-platform patterns.
  • Collaborate with product, design and backend engineers to create simple, accessible patient experiences and secure APIs.
  • Own mobile quality metrics, including crash rates, performance, startup time and WCAG accessibility.
  • Improve mobile delivery through CI/CD, automated testing, feature flags, phased rollouts and App Store/Google Play release management.
  • Protect special-category health data through secure storage, authentication and privacy-conscious development aligned with UK GDPR.
  • Conduct code reviews, write technical documentation and RFCs, and establish engineering standards.
  • Mentor engineers, share mobile knowledge and participate in hiring.
  • Use AI coding assistants responsibly to improve delivery speed without compromising quality.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional mobile app development experience, including shipping and scaling a consumer app on the App Store or Google Play.
  • Deep native expertise in Swift and SwiftUI for iOS or Kotlin and Jetpack Compose for Android.
  • Working knowledge of the other mobile platform (preferred).
  • Strong understanding of mobile architecture, including MVVM, unidirectional data flow, dependency injection and modularisation.
  • Experience with unit, UI and snapshot testing and building testable code.
  • Experience with mobile CI/CD and end-to-end release management using tools such as Fastlane, Bitrise, GitHub Actions or Xcode Cloud.
  • Experience integrating REST or GraphQL APIs, including authentication, caching and error handling.
  • Track record of owning large features or product areas and improving team engineering practices.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and providing constructive code reviews.
  • Strong communication skills and experience collaborating closely with product and design in agile, sprint-based teams.
  • Commitment to patient privacy and accessibility in healthcare products.
