Description

  • Lead and own the station-facing insights service for NPR Member stations.
  • Develop expertise on station audiences and the analytics needs of stations.
  • Conduct monthly webinars on Network-wide trends, audience insights, data usage, and best practices.
  • Create and manage a monthly newsletter with Network-wide and station-level trend context.
  • Learn and support NPR’s analytics software, including tracking, datasets, and dashboards.
  • Build and sustain collaborative, consultative relationships with station partners and executives.
  • Oversee data collection standards for station digital platforms and troubleshoot tracking implementation issues.
  • Support stations by responding to questions and issues quickly and professionally.
  • Serve as a station ambassador and communicate station needs to NPR staff to inform roadmaps, services, and research.
  • Identify internal research and create guides, documentation, and training materials for stations and staff.
  • Use industry knowledge to contextualize insights and identify emerging trends.
  • Partner with Audience Insights and cross-functional teams on station infrastructure, journalism, and technical support.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in website/app analytics or other audience behavioral data.
  • 1+ years of experience supporting customers, clients, or external stakeholders.
  • Strong public speaking skills and comfort presenting to large audiences and handling live Q&A.
  • Proven expertise with Google Analytics or a similar analytics platform.
  • Advanced SQL skills, including window functions, complex joins, query optimization, and data transformation.
  • Advanced Excel or Google Sheets proficiency, including pivot tables, complex formulas, data manipulation, and visualization.
  • Experience working with large datasets and learning new proprietary datasets.
  • Excellent oral, written, and visual communication skills for explaining quantitative information to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience training non-technical audiences on analytics tools and dashboards.
  • Self-starter who can work independently and collaboratively.
  • Preferred: experience working in a news or media organization.
  • Preferred: experience developing programming or training series for audiences with varied technical expertise.
  • Preferred: applied knowledge of SEO, 3rd-party platform algorithms, and content distribution strategies.
  • Preferred: experience managing tracking systems with Google Tag Manager or similar.
  • Preferred: experience cleaning and manipulating data with R or Python.

  • Salary range of $105,435.13 to $116,380.66 USD plus benefits.
  • Remote-permitted role with flexibility to work remotely within the U.S. or onsite in Washington, D.C.
