Description

  • Design weekly long-form features and editorial layouts for Newsweek’s print magazine.
  • Oversee each issue’s production cycle from layout through press, coordinating with editorial, art, and photo teams.
  • Collaborate with editors and the art director to maintain cohesive, on-brand visual presentation across platforms.
  • Prepare print-ready files that meet technical and editorial standards.
  • Adapt editorial content for digital formats when needed.
  • Adapt badge designs for use across different formats.
  • Create bespoke illustrations for Newsweek’s brand website.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of professional experience in magazine or editorial design, preferably in a fast-paced weekly or daily newsroom.
  • Exceptional layout skills and strong understanding of publication structure, grid systems, and visual hierarchy.
  • Advanced Adobe InDesign skills, including tables for long lists and paragraph and character stylesheets.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Ability to manage multiple pages, deadlines, and collaborators under pressure.
  • Portfolio demonstrating strong editorial design and layout.
  • Excellent written and spoken English, with flexibility in working hours.
  • Familiarity with AI design tools.
  • Experience commissioning and directing editorial visuals preferred.
  • Knowledge of Figma, Canva, and PowerPoint preferred.
