Description

  • Create original science assessment items, tasks, and stimuli aligned to NGSS or state-specific standards.
  • Transfer and format existing science assessments and items from district and state sources into the Formative platform.
  • Produce and configure technology-enhanced items (TEIs) and ensure accurate metadata tagging and technical functionality.
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews to ensure science content is unbiased, scientifically accurate, and meets editorial standards.
  • Evaluate and validate Depth of Knowledge (DOK) for assessment items to confirm cognitive rigor and alignment.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations on content tools and item bank features to improve development workflows.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of direct experience writing and reviewing science assessment items on a commercial scale.
  • Experience with an EdTech company, testing vendor, or educational publisher preferred.
  • Strong understanding of educational assessment design, including formative, common, and summative assessments.
  • Deep familiarity with NGSS and state-specific science frameworks.
  • Ability to apply standards alignment principles with rigor and consistency.
  • Experience authoring technology-enhanced items (TEIs) and working in digital assessment platforms.
  • Knowledge of style guides and best practices for fairness, bias, and accessibility.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines with strong attention to detail.
  • Legally authorized to work in the US.
