Description

  • Analyze, modify, and test COBOL components to replace IDMS-based functionality and support migration to Db2 on z/OS.
  • Adjust and optimize COBOL code with SQL/Db2 access, including cursors, commits, locks, and precompilation.
  • Design, execute, and document unit and integration tests, and collaborate on defect resolution and hardening activities.
  • Participate in cutover planning, including final testing, incremental synchronization, error control, and rollback execution if needed.
  • Prepare and maintain JCL, batch jobs, and deployment artifacts.
  • Collaborate with global Legacy Transformation teams using agile practices.
  • Document technical and functional changes and promote quality and observability best practices in mainframe environments.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of recent experience developing COBOL on mainframe (z/OS).
  • Hands-on experience with Db2 for z/OS, including embedded SQL, precompilers, DCLGEN, and transaction control.
  • Solid knowledge of JCL, TSO/ISPF, and PDS/PDSE libraries.
  • Experience with unit and integration testing in mainframe environments and incident management across the lifecycle.
  • Advanced Spanish and intermediate English, due to collaboration with a global team.
  • Experience migrating from IDMS or other legacy data models to Db2, including adjustments to data structures and access logic (preferred).
  • Knowledge of CICS, concurrency control, and Db2 performance tuning, including indexes, EXPLAIN, and BIND options (preferred).
  • Experience with mainframe change/versioning tools such as Endevor or ChangeMan, and schedulers such as Control-M (preferred).
  • Experience in mainframe modernization projects and production cutover/rollback planning (preferred).
  • Knowledge of the insurance domain, preferably with prior experience at MAPFRE or another insurer (preferred).
  • IBM certifications in Db2 or z/OS, or equivalent training, and familiarity with APIs/ETL integration (preferred).
