Description

  • Contribute substantially to research and development efforts.
  • Independently lead projects to create and develop novel nucleic acid-based diagnostic tests.
  • Plan, test feasibility, develop protocols, and optimize diagnostic workflows.
  • Execute projects according to timelines and deliverables.
  • Develop plans and generate new research ideas.
  • Design and execute moderate- to high-complexity experiments.
  • Perform basic data analysis, including statistical analysis.
  • Coordinate experiment execution and analysis with statistics and bioinformatics teams.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with statistics, bioinformatics, product development, and project management teams.
  • Document research progress under a Quality Management System.
  • Communicate progress with colleagues, senior management, partners, and outside collaborators.
  • May manage Research Associates and provide basic leadership to junior scientists.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in molecular biology or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of industry experience, or 2 years of post-doctoral research plus 6 years of industry experience.
  • Experience designing, executing, and analyzing next-generation sequencing (NGS) and DNA/RNA molecular biology experiments.
  • Experience with nucleic acid technologies including PCR, multiplex PCR, qPCR, and digital droplet PCR.
  • Experience developing tests in NIPT and/or liquid biopsy is highly desirable.
  • Multiomics, epigenetic/methylation, target enrichment, and cfDNA/RNA experience is a plus.
  • Experience in women’s health molecular diagnostics is highly desirable.
  • Track record of originating, developing, and productizing novel nucleic acid techniques and tests.
  • Strong communication, organizational, record-keeping, planning, time management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience managing collaborative and individual projects and communicating externally.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and leading research associates and junior scientists.
  • Adept with Excel and basic statistical analysis.
  • Bioinformatic capabilities, programming experience in PERL or Python, and SQL/database experience are a plus.
  • Skilled at writing clear plans, reports, and SOPs.
