Description

  • Contribute to the design, development, and validation of automated high-throughput NGS assays for FDA and other regulatory submissions.
  • Implement assigned technical projects while maintaining strict adherence to timelines and deliverable schedules.
  • Design, plan, and execute moderate to high complexity experiments and perform basic data analysis in JMP and Excel.
  • Collaborate with assay development scientists on assay, reagent, equipment, and quality metric specifications for future production assays.
  • Work with Clinical Laboratory and Quality Assurance teams to ensure developed methods meet Natera’s quality standards.
  • Coordinate with internal groups including automation engineering, laboratory operations, bioinformatics, statistics, project management, and product management to execute workflow processes.
  • Write project protocols, reports, and SOPs, and train clinical laboratory scientists on procedures.
  • Plan and execute verification activities.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities and help improve production workflows and shorten sample turnaround time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, cell biology, or a related field with 4+ years of relevant industry experience, or an M.S. degree in a related field with 2+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Experience with IVD product development and design controls.
  • Strong understanding of nucleic acid extraction, PCR, NGS library preparation, and hybrid capture chemistry.
  • Hands-on experience in reagent preparation and quality control for NGS-based assays.
  • Experience with high-throughput automated assays using liquid handler robots.
  • Experience executing studies including stability, guardbanding, reproducibility, and repeatability.
  • Experience working in a regulated laboratory environment under CLIA/CAP.
  • Data analysis experience with JMP and Excel; coding skills in Python or R and liquid handler programming are a plus.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, record-keeping, planning, attention to detail, and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and collaborate cross-functionally with regulatory affairs, CLIA, LIMS, lab operations QA, automation, and research.
