Description

  • Define the enterprise strategy for production-grade bioinformatics pipelines that are robust, reproducible, version-controlled, and suitable for clinical use.
  • Architect high-performance computing and cloud-native orchestration layers that scale with laboratory volume.
  • Evaluate build-vs-buy options for workflow managers and secondary analysis acceleration technologies.
  • Establish standards for data provenance and freeze-down protocols to support regulatory traceability across pipeline versions.
  • Design tertiary analysis platforms that integrate variant calling with large-scale knowledge bases for annotation and classification.
  • Partner with R&D and Clinical Ops to automate variant classification workflows and reduce manual curator burden.
  • Architect the clinical reporting engine for complex multi-omic data, longitudinal results, and dynamic templates across global markets.
  • Ensure data architectures comply with HIPAA and GDPR while supporting high availability for clinical operations.
  • Coordinate seamless data handoff between wet lab LIMS systems and dry lab bioinformatics systems.
  • Lead continuous validation efforts and represent Data Analytical Systems in FDA and CAP/CLIA regulatory submissions and inspections.
  • Mentor engineering and bioinformatics teams and promote software engineering excellence within a scientific environment.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in software architecture or technical strategy, including at least 5 years in bioinformatics, genomics, or clinical data systems.
  • Deep expertise in NGS data processing from FastQ to VCF and the computational challenges of primary and secondary analysis.
  • Proven experience building or scaling tertiary analysis or interpretation systems, knowledgebases, and clinical report-writing workflows.
  • Strong ability to bridge communication and collaboration between geneticists and software engineers.
  • Experience with oncology diagnostics, especially MRD (Minimal Residual Disease) or CGP (Comprehensive Genomic Profiling), preferred.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML integration into clinical decision support systems, preferred.
  • Advanced degree such as a Master's or PhD in Genetics, Computational Biology, or Computer Science, preferred.
  • Experience with workflow managers such as WDL, Nextflow, or Snakemake, preferred.
  • Experience with secondary analysis acceleration technologies such as DRAGEN or GPU-based processing, preferred.
