Description

  • Lead the technical design and delivery of AI-native accessioning automation services for paper and electronic requisition forms.
  • Build and ship solutions independently from prototype to production within a small, high-autonomy team.
  • Apply AI tools such as LLMs, vision models, OCR, and IDP frameworks to solve accessioning problems.
  • Own product outcomes by partnering with Accessioning Operations, Product, and Engineering to understand workflows and measure impact.
  • Integrate new AI-powered services with existing mature commerce and fulfillment systems.
  • Establish strong engineering practices, including AI-assisted development, test automation, CI/CD, and observability.
  • Evaluate new AI tools, models, and vendor solutions and lead build-versus-buy-versus-integrate decisions.
  • Mentor peers through design reviews, pairing, and sharing best practices to raise technical quality.

Requirements

  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience building production systems that support real business processes or data workflows.
  • Demonstrated experience shipping AI-powered features in production.
  • Hands-on use of modern AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or Copilot.
  • Strong backend engineering fundamentals, including REST/gRPC APIs, microservices, relational databases, and event-driven architectures.
  • Proficiency in at least one modern backend language; Python is preferred, with Java, Go, or TypeScript also acceptable.
  • Experience integrating third-party AI and IDP platforms.
  • Track record of working fast and independently.
  • Product mindset focused on business outcomes rather than lines of code.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Commitment to building inclusive, high-performing teams.
  • Experience with healthcare, clinical lab, or diagnostics workflows, including HIPAA or other regulated environments, preferred.
  • Prior experience with document data extraction, forms automation, or accessioning/intake systems, preferred.
  • Familiarity with LIMS platforms such as LabVantage for integration context, preferred.
  • Front-end experience with React for internal tools and operator UIs, preferred.
  • Experience evaluating and fine-tuning vision or document-understanding models, preferred.
  • MLOps experience, including model evaluation, monitoring, drift detection, and prompt/version management, preferred.
  • Experience with cloud services such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Knowledge of modern AI/ML application patterns, including prompt engineering, evals, retrieval, structured output, and vision + OCR pipelines.
  • Awareness of regulated environments such as CLIA, HIPAA, and GxP.
