Description

  • Own PostgreSQL schema design, migrations, indexing, query performance, connection management, and database operations.
  • Design data models that enforce tenant isolation and data classification structurally.
  • Implement retention, deletion, minimization, access control, audit logging, and compliance evidence across primary and derived data systems.
  • Partner with security and GRC teams to translate regulatory and contractual requirements into technical controls.
  • Design and operate multi-region routing, storage, replication, failover, and data residency mechanisms.
  • Design, version, deprecate, and maintain backwards-compatible public APIs.
  • Build API authentication, authorization, rate limiting, and idempotency behavior.
  • Develop internal tooling, admin surfaces, and operational dashboards.
  • Operate services, troubleshoot cross-system issues, and improve reliability, observability, testing, and deployment practices.
  • Review code and contribute to technical standards across the engineering team.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience building and operating production backend systems.
  • Deep PostgreSQL experience, including schema design, query optimization, and live migrations.
  • Strong backend development skills in Go, Node.js, Python, Java, or a similar language.
  • Enough frontend experience to build internal tools with React or a comparable framework.
  • Experience designing and maintaining customer-facing APIs, including versioning and backward compatibility.
  • Hands-on cloud experience, preferably AWS, including storage, IAM, and encryption.
  • Experience handling sensitive or regulated data with strict access control, retention, and deletion requirements.
  • Strong judgment around idempotency, safe retries, failure handling, and load-related failure modes.
  • Clear communication and judgment in a remote, cross-functional environment.
  • Legally authorized to work in the US without current or future visa sponsorship; multi-region, data residency, multi-tenant isolation, biometric privacy, audited environments, identity/security products, and production reliability experience are preferred.
