Description

  • Manage, coach, and develop senior and staff engineers through feedback, career planning, and performance decisions.
  • Own planning, prioritization, execution, tradeoffs, and delivery accountability for engineering initiatives.
  • Ensure reliability, on-call readiness, incident response, and effective postmortems.
  • Integrate security, compliance, SOC 2 obligations, and secure development practices into engineering operations.
  • Partner with product and design to create sequenced, buildable roadmaps.
  • Represent engineering in customer, prospect, and executive technical discussions.
  • Own engineering hiring, including sourcing, interview design, calibration, and closing.
  • Design team structures and ownership boundaries as the organization grows.
  • Establish standards for code review, testing, deployment, documentation, and architectural decisions.
  • Define responsible AI coding-tool practices and improve developer build, test, and deployment workflows.

Requirements

  • 3+ years managing software engineers, including senior and staff-level individual contributors.
  • Strong engineering background building and operating backend or distributed systems at scale.
  • Experience owning team delivery, planning, prioritization, and outcome accountability.
  • Experience managing on-call and incident response for production systems with availability expectations.
  • Demonstrated success designing and operating an engineering hiring process.
  • Ability to work effectively in ambiguous, fast-changing startup environments.
  • Strong written communication skills in a remote-first organization.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.
  • Experience in security, identity, fraud, infrastructure, or B2B SaaS (preferred).
  • Experience with Go, AWS, services architectures, engineering-org growth, SOC 2, or AI coding tools (preferred).
