Description

  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements including vendor, distribution, partnership, NDA, and licensing contracts.
  • Advise internal teams on cannabis regulatory compliance in California, Nevada, and New York, including licensing, labeling, and advertising rules.
  • Support corporate governance matters such as entity management, board resolutions, and investor documentation.
  • Partner with operations, finance, sales, product, and HR teams to provide timely legal guidance and risk support.
  • Monitor changes in cannabis laws and regulations and create internal guidance and training materials.
  • Assist with employment-related legal matters, risk management, and insurance coverage.
  • Manage outside counsel relationships and coordinate external legal matters.
  • Build and improve legal processes, templates, and tools to scale the legal function.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar admission, with California preferred.
  • 2–5 years of legal experience in a law firm and/or in-house setting.
  • Experience with commercial contracts and regulatory matters.
  • Experience in cannabis, alcohol and beverage, agriculture, logistics, or another regulated industry is a strong plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters independently with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex legal concepts into actionable guidance.
  • High ownership mindset and a collaborative, business-enabling approach.
  • Comfort working in ambiguity and building structure in a rapidly evolving regulatory environment.
