Description

  • Create reusable infrastructure as code for provisioning and managing cloud database resources.
  • Secure databases by automating human and system access provisioning.
  • Implement monitoring across databases, applications, and end-to-end data flows.
  • Optimize database performance, runtimes, capacity, and total cost of ownership.
  • Design, implement, and test database backup and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Advise teams on data-store selection, schema design, access patterns, and data architectures.
  • Build opinionated, plug-and-play cloud infrastructure with embedded best practices.
  • Evaluate data tools and services and help shape Murmuration’s data platform strategy.
  • Establish standards for data schemas, sharing, access layers, privacy, and security.
  • Mentor senior engineers, lead technical discussions, and influence cross-team engineering practices.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with deep data specialization and production delivery across transactional and analytic systems.
  • Expertise with relational, NoSQL, and columnar data stores, including PostgreSQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB, and Snowflake.
  • Advanced SQL and NoSQL skills, including schema design, migrations, indexing, normalization, and read/write optimization.
  • Experience with dbt, data replication or CDC tools such as Kafka connectors, DMS, or Airbyte.
  • Experience with Dagster or Airflow and streaming systems such as Flink.
  • Deep experience with cloud-native architectures, distributed systems, AWS, and production systems at scale.
  • Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools such as CDK, SAM, Serverless Framework, or Terraform.
  • Experience with observability tools such as CloudWatch, Datadog, New Relic, Prometheus, or Grafana.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multi-team technical strategy, mentor senior engineers, communicate tradeoffs, and influence without formal authority.
  • Experience with secure coding, data privacy, access control, test strategy, cross-functional collaboration, and responsible use of AI; civic or political technology experience is preferred.
