Description

  • Design and implement radiometric calibration and image processing for multispectral infrared imagery from the FireSat mission.
  • Develop and execute the calibration program for the SBEM infrared camera.
  • Research and improve foundational data calibration and processing methods.
  • Implement and operate production pipelines for calibration and data processing.
  • Write production-ready code for mission data systems.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally across the team and company to build and maintain operational services for remote sensing missions.
  • Support pre-launch calibration activities for SBEM and transition to lead on-orbit calibration as the program advances.
  • Learn new topics as needed across measurement techniques, geospatial data engineering, software engineering, and customer-domain implications.

Requirements

  • PhD with 3+ years of industry experience, MS with 6+ years of industry experience, or BS with 8+ years of industry experience.
  • 4+ years of experience calibrating imaging instruments.
  • Hands-on experience working with complex data from new imaging instruments.
  • Exceptional skills in Python-based development and analysis.
  • Strong statistical and mathematical skills.
  • Ability to work with a distributed, interdisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and data support staff.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Experience with mid-wave infrared instruments and mid-wave infrared data processing (preferred).
  • Experience calibrating on-orbit instruments (preferred).
  • Deep knowledge of remote sensing science (preferred).
  • Experience with geospatial data processing (preferred).
  • Familiarity with geospatial data tooling and formats such as XArray, COG, and NetCDF (preferred).
  • Domain expertise in geospatial analytics (preferred).
  • Familiarity with cloud-native systems, preferably AWS (preferred).
  • Experience working with large TB-sized datasets (preferred).
  • Must be eligible to access export-controlled information under ITAR/EAR requirements, including U.S. person status or qualifying authorization eligibility.
