Description

  • Lead verification and validation efforts for the Perception subsystem of the autonomy stack.
  • Influence requirements based on problem understanding, covariate coverage, and testing constraints.
  • Educate perception engineers and champion V&V best practices across teams.
  • Collaborate with autonomy and systems engineers to define problem taxonomies, critical performance covariates, and appropriate metrics.
  • Create dashboards and automate reporting to support performance analysis.
  • Establish coverage targets, identify data and testing gaps, and validate the overall test strategy.
  • Develop actionable test plans across multiple test modalities and create critical tests as needed.
  • Work across teams to scale test creation and achieve coverage targets.
  • Evaluate the limitations of existing tools and simulation technologies and advocate for improvements to testing and automation.
  • Serve as the primary bridge between Perception and Systems Readiness and Performance, ensuring aligned processes, terminology, and communication of system-level impact.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field preferred.
  • Experience leading verification and validation for a safety-critical product.
  • V&V experience with a self-driving vehicle strongly preferred.
  • General knowledge of the self-driving vehicle software stack.
  • Understanding of simulation technologies used in autonomy development.
  • Experience creating and executing V&V test strategies.
  • Experience with test set creation, test organization, and structured reporting.
  • Understanding of performance analysis, risk assessment, and go/no-go decision-making.
  • Proficiency in Python for scripting, database queries, and automation.
  • Familiarity with dashboarding software, AI/agentic coding tools, Git, Buildkite, and Jenkins.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated collaboration, leadership, innovation, and creativity.
  • Track record of reliability, trustworthiness, and delivering impact.
  • Ability to frame safety discussions within a grounded risk assessment framework.
  • Entrepreneurial experience or evidence of being self-driven, adaptable, and results-oriented preferred.
  • Patents or other evidence of innovation and creativity preferred.

  • Base salary range of $200,000 to $275,000 USD.
  • Additional compensation may include a bonus and company equity.
