Description

  • Drive research that improves customer outcomes across the Monzo experience, both directly and indirectly.
  • Influence Monzo’s north star metrics and commercial outcomes through research insights.
  • Prioritize the highest-impact research opportunities and help others do the same.
  • Identify the most important research questions and flex focus across teams or domains as needed.
  • Choose appropriate methods and pioneer new approaches for complex research projects.
  • Shape research projects and strategies to balance pace, quality, and breadth of focus.
  • Draw on multiple data sources and collaborate with cross-discipline leaders to answer key questions.
  • Communicate actionable user insights clearly so they inform strategy across the organization.
  • Partner closely with leaders outside user research and model strong cross-functional working.
  • Translate insights and strategic direction into clear, actionable plans for product teams.
  • Mentor and coach user researchers while providing supportive line management.
  • Help grow the research team by identifying skill gaps and creating conditions for success.

Requirements

  • Experience working in a product-led environment as a high-performing individual contributor.
  • Strong background as a world-class mixed-methods user researcher.
  • Passion or interest in mentoring and coaching user researchers.
  • Ability to work effectively in ambiguous or changing contexts across squads and the wider organization.
  • Experience solving systemic issues created by complexity.
  • Track record of driving positive customer and business outcomes, even in challenging team situations.
  • Ability to raise the bar through timely, respectful feedback and disciplined practice.
  • Resilience and the ability to discuss trade-offs pragmatically while maintaining pace.
  • Recognized expertise in the research field with experience scaling support to others.
  • Ability to contribute to team growth, including identifying needed skill sets and helping hire the right people.
  • Passion for making money work for everyone.
