Description

  • Run and maintain Monzo’s Kubernetes clusters, service mesh, and networking infrastructure.
  • Build and centrally manage cloud infrastructure across AWS and GCP.
  • Enhance and maintain foundational platform tools, systems, and shared services.
  • Design and implement backend services such as APIs and controllers for internal self-service experiences.
  • Develop software for infrastructure migrations, high-scale traffic management, and security tooling.
  • Integrate and manage open-source components to provide scalable platform primitives.
  • Abstract infrastructure complexity so other platform teams can move faster and solve customer problems.
  • Improve reliability, performance, and developer experience across the platform.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams on shared infrastructure and application platform needs.

Requirements

  • Significant professional experience in software engineering.
  • Experience writing, testing, and deploying robust backend services using strongly typed languages.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS and/or GCP.
  • Proficiency with Kubernetes.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code, such as Terraform.
  • Strong inclination toward automation and solving problems through automation.
  • Deep curiosity about systems, including how distributed applications fail and scale.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with ambiguity and evolving requirements.
  • Experience with Go, Kubernetes, AWS, GCP, Terraform, or Envoy is useful, but direct experience is not required.
  • The interview process can be completed in any language.

Benefits

  • Base salary of £95,000 - £130,000.
