Description

  • Provide legal advice to product teams on personal and business banking products.
  • Triage product legal queries and escalate issues to senior lawyers when needed.
  • Advise on legal and regulatory requirements for a growing bank, including payments and banking products.
  • Partner with product managers to support product development and growth in the UK.
  • Collaborate with Compliance, Risk and Control, and other cross-functional teams on legal matters.
  • Identify legal and regulatory risks in existing and new products and support governance reviews.
  • Advise on regulated financial promotions and support marketing teams on product-related legal issues.
  • Provide training and knowledge sharing on the impact of laws and regulations.
  • Take ownership of complex matters, assess risk, and help find practical solutions.
  • Help improve legal processes and test new ways of working, including AI tools.

Requirements

  • Qualified lawyer or soon to qualify.
  • Experience working in the banking and finance sector.
  • Experience advising on legal and regulatory issues relating to banking products.
  • Experience advising on laws and regulations relevant to financial services, especially payments and banking products.
  • Ability to explain complex regulations, including BCOBS and the Payment Services Regulations, in a simple way.
  • Experience advising on regulated financial promotions and supporting marketing teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to give clear, practical advice.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritise and work independently under tight deadlines across multiple projects.
  • Good interpersonal and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Keen problem solver with a commercial mindset and ability to balance risk.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
  • Interest in banking, technology, and consumer finance transformation.
