Description

  • Serve as a data architect for Monzo’s Borrowing data and help design scalable data models that measure product performance.
  • Develop robust data models downstream of backend services, primarily in BigQuery, for reporting, machine learning, LLMs, and financial and regulatory use cases.
  • Define and maintain best practices for the data warehouse, including source payload design, logical modeling, implementation, metadata, and testing standards.
  • Collaborate across Monzo to set data standards, share knowledge, and continuously improve data practices.
  • Prioritize data governance issues and help ensure data integrity and compliance.
  • Champion central platform initiatives that raise data standards across Borrowing and the wider organization.
  • Work cross-functionally with backend engineers, product managers, credit analysts, and senior technical leaders.
  • Shape and manage the technical roadmap for the domain and execute against project deliverables.
  • Enable other data scientists, analytics engineers, and credit analysts by sharing data architecture expertise.
  • Lead through the contributions of others to create leverage and scale impact across the team.

Requirements

  • Experience with data modelling, ETL projects, and big data.
  • Strong SQL skills and comfort with data modelling and data warehousing concepts.
  • Experience working with data streams from financial, transactional, and operational systems.
  • Experience building robust and reliable data sets that require a high level of control.
  • Ability to think strategically about credit products and underlying data models.
  • Experience influencing and securing buy-in from key leaders across ambiguous data domains.
  • Ability to manage a technical roadmap and deliver against a project plan.
  • Strong cross-functional communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Passion for continuous improvement and proactively solving data challenges.
  • Experience leading through others and creating multiplier effects across teams.

  • £97,800-£125,000 base salary.
