Description

  • Own and operate the full accounting function as the first dedicated accounting hire on the platform.
  • Personally manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, including reconciliations, entries, variance analysis, and audit-ready reporting.
  • Design and maintain the chart of accounts, reporting hierarchy, and accounting framework for a REIT-structured data center business.
  • Own REIT accounting, testing, compliance, and ongoing maintenance of REIT status in partnership with external advisors.
  • Lead federal, state, and local tax compliance, including REIT tax reporting, sales/use tax, property tax, and entity structuring.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies and technical frameworks for capitalization, project accounting, lease accounting, and revenue recognition.
  • Lead project and development accounting by tracking capital expenditures and aligning capitalization with budgets and milestones.
  • Build internal controls and financial governance processes, including procure-to-pay workflows, vendor onboarding, and approval matrices.
  • Implement and optimize ERP and financial systems to improve automation, scalability, and operational efficiency.
  • Develop KPI and management reporting for the CFO, executive team, board, investors, lenders, and capital markets stakeholders.
  • Support lender and investor reporting, covenant compliance, cash flow visibility, liquidity planning, and underwriting alignment.
  • Coordinate audits, diligence, and transaction support across external auditors, advisors, lenders, investors, legal, and internal teams.
  • Help hire, develop, and scale the accounting team as the platform grows.

Requirements

  • Active CPA license required.
  • 5+ years of direct data center industry experience, including hyperscale, colocation, or digital infrastructure exposure.
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience in Controller, Assistant Controller, Director of Accounting, or similar leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated REIT experience required, including asset and income testing, distribution requirements, TRS structuring, and ongoing compliance.
  • Strong tax leadership experience with federal, multi-state, property, and sales/use tax compliance in a REIT, real estate, or infrastructure environment.
  • Deep technical accounting knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, project accounting, construction in progress (CIP), capitalization policies, and ASC 842 lease accounting.
  • Experience preparing audit-ready financial statements and supporting external audits.
  • Proven ability to build and scale accounting infrastructure, including chart of accounts design, ERP implementation, reporting frameworks, and internal controls.
  • Experience partnering with capital markets and finance teams on lender/investor reporting, debt covenants, capital stack considerations, and financial model alignment.
  • Hands-on builder mindset and comfort working as both an individual contributor and a future team leader.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership skills with development, construction, legal, capital markets, and executive stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to balance rigor, speed, and practicality.
  • Big 4 audit or large public accounting background strongly preferred.
  • Infrastructure, real estate, or private equity-backed company experience highly valued.
  • Hyperscale, colocation, tower, or other infrastructure REIT experience strongly preferred.

  • Competitive total compensation package with a salary range of $180,000 to $225,000.
