Description

  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact with POS hardware manufacturers.
  • Review and audit manufacturer design specifications and component lists to ensure adherence to company standards.
  • Recommend design, material, and component changes that improve repairability, reduce costs, and lower mean time to repair.
  • Evaluate and approve critical hardware components based on reliability, failure rates, and supply stability.
  • Partner with Engineering and Data teams to perform root cause analysis on recurring hardware failures and drive required design improvements.
  • Translate Nigerian market conditions and operational data into hardware design requirements for manufacturers.
  • Define and validate the spare parts list needed for local repair operations.
  • Set the strategy and operating model for internal and outsourced POS repair centers.
  • Manage repair performance against key metrics such as MTTR, first-time fix rate, cost of repair, and failure rates.
  • Develop standardized repair procedures, diagnostics, and quality control protocols across all repair channels.
  • Oversee technician training, certification, and the availability of diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Establish reporting for repair costs, component failure rates, and parts inventory to inform future design decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, or a closely related technical field.
  • 8+ years of experience in hardware engineering, quality control, technical operations, or product service management.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a leadership role.
  • Deep, hands-on knowledge of embedded systems, circuit board components, electronic repair methodologies, and diagnostic tools.
  • Experience with POS, terminal, or embedded payment devices.
  • Proven track record managing technical relationships with international hardware manufacturers.
  • Experience with design review and quality auditing processes.
  • Experience managing complex repair or service operations with KPI ownership in MTTR, cost of repair, and failure rate analysis.
  • Direct experience with hardware deployment and service operations in Nigeria or similar emerging markets is highly preferred.
  • Exceptional negotiation, technical communication, and analytical skills.
