Description

  • Shape architecture and technology strategy across application modernization projects.
  • Assess legacy Java applications, uncover dependencies and business logic, and recommend practical modernization paths.
  • Design, implement, and review production solutions using Java, Spring Boot, APIs, integrations, and MongoDB data modeling.
  • Establish incremental delivery practices involving acceptance criteria, automated testing, CI/CD, observability, and rollback strategies.
  • Identify and resolve quality, security, performance, and reliability risks.
  • Partner with customers and stakeholders to communicate technical concepts, trade-offs, priorities, and risks.
  • Mentor engineers, raise engineering standards, and create reusable migration playbooks and documentation.
  • Apply and develop GenAI-based solutions to accelerate application migration and delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Typically 8+ years of experience designing, building, and delivering Java applications, including complex modernization initiatives.
  • Expertise in Java fundamentals, object-oriented design, concurrency, error handling, performance, and maintainable architecture.
  • Deep production experience with Spring Boot, APIs, integrations, resilient services, and distributed application testing.
  • Experience assessing legacy systems, decomposing monoliths, identifying dependencies, and defining modernization strategies.
  • Strong relational database and SQL experience, including stored procedures, data migration, schema evolution, and relational-to-document modeling.
  • Experience with Agile delivery, test-first development, CI/CD, Git, observability, reliability practices, mentoring, and cross-team technical influence.
  • Experience with REST APIs, Java performance optimization, MongoDB, ORM tools, or technologies such as Hibernate, Spring Data, or JPA.
  • Familiarity with Postman, IntelliJ IDEA, Maven or Gradle, JavaScript or .NET, and AI development tools such as Claude Code or Cursor.
  • Experience using GenAI APIs such as OpenAI or Anthropic beyond chat interfaces; willingness to complete enhanced screenings where required.
