Description

  • Own the AI architecture and technical direction for HotDocs, including model management, LLM orchestration, retrieval strategy, evaluation, and cost/latency tradeoffs.
  • Design, build, and ship AI-powered enterprise features from prototype to production using .NET Core and React.
  • Lead adoption of AI across the software development lifecycle, including coding assistants, agentic workflows, test generation, code review, and documentation.
  • Establish evaluation harnesses, guardrails, observability, and AI governance practices to ensure safe and explainable AI.
  • Modernize and refactor legacy code where needed to support AI integration and improve scalability and reliability.
  • Mentor engineers through code reviews, design reviews, pairing, brown-bag sessions, and written guidance.
  • Partner with product, architecture, security, DevOps, and customer-facing teams on roadmap, build-versus-buy decisions, and delivery expectations.
  • Extend CI/CD and operational practices to support AI workloads, including prompt/model versioning, automated evaluation gates, monitoring, and cost tracking.
  • Ensure AI features solve real customer problems and deliver a strong user experience with attention to accessibility and transparency.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of professional software development experience, including time in a principal, lead, or staff-level technical role.
  • Strong hands-on experience with .NET Core (C#) and React (TypeScript) or similar SPA frameworks.
  • Proven experience designing and shipping production AI solutions, including LLM integration, prompt engineering, RAG, MCP, and agentic or tool-calling systems.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud AI platforms such as Azure OpenAI / AI Foundry or equivalent, plus orchestration frameworks like Semantic Kernel.
  • Experience building and maintaining REST APIs.
  • Proficiency with Entity Framework and Azure SQL or SQL Server.
  • Experience evaluating and improving AI system quality using test sets, benchmarking, human review loops, and non-deterministic behavior handling.
  • Understanding of web application security and AI-specific security issues, including secure coding, prompt injection, and sensitive data handling.
  • Experience with Git, modern collaboration workflows, CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps or similar), and agile tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Nice-to-have experience with SLMs, fine-tuning, CAG, vector databases, AI observability, multi-agent systems, AI/ML pipelines, Office Addins, .NET Framework/WPF, OAuth/SSO, Redis, Linux, Docker, PowerShell, performance tuning, infrastructure-as-code, or enterprise SaaS/compliance-heavy domains.
