Description

  • Shift quality left by influencing refinement, story writing, and design discussions before code is written.
  • Coach teams to define clear acceptance criteria, improve testability, and surface edge cases early.
  • Work with developers across unit, integration, end-to-end, and system testing to strengthen the full testing pyramid.
  • Help teams create fast, deterministic, trustworthy test suites and rebalance overly brittle or top-heavy coverage.
  • Profile, optimize, and accelerate CI pipelines to reduce wasted compute, shorten feedback loops, and lower cost.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools to generate and maintain tests, speed up code review, and improve feedback cycles.
  • Mentor engineers through pairing, workshops, and review of test and pipeline changes.
  • Own quality strategy across the SDLC, including test strategy, environments, test data, release confidence, and quality metrics.
  • Assess team quality maturity and drive pragmatic improvement plans through delivery.
  • Influence client stakeholders and multiple teams through mentoring, workshops, and example-driven leadership.

Requirements

  • Deep, hands-on quality experience across the testing pyramid, from unit tests through end-to-end and system testing.
  • Strong coding ability and comfort reading, writing, and reviewing code.
  • Practical understanding of Agile delivery and shift-left quality practices.
  • Solid CI/CD expertise, including the ability to analyze and improve pipeline performance, cost, and reliability.
  • Experience with CI tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or CircleCI (preferred).
  • Familiarity with testing tools such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, Jest, Vitest, JUnit, pytest, k6, JMeter, or Gatling.
  • Hands-on experience using AI-assisted development tools and coaching teams on their effective use.
  • Excellent mentoring, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to earn trust quickly in unfamiliar teams and work effectively without formal authority.
  • Experience in a consulting or client-facing environment (nice to have).
  • Exposure to performance, security, accessibility, or contract testing (nice to have).
  • Familiarity with observability and production telemetry as indicators of quality (nice to have).
  • Community contributions such as talks, writing, open source, or mentoring beyond your own team (nice to have).
