Description

  • Lead strategy and execution for major email fundraising and advocacy programs, comprising roughly 80% client work and 20% team management.
  • Write compelling fundraising and organizing emails that embody clients' voices, adapt to various calls-to-action, and apply effective theories of change.
  • Code, produce, target, test, and launch mass email communications with accurate HTML/CSS, follow internal testing processes, and troubleshoot intermediate to complex issues.
  • Use, master, and set up multiple CRMs (e.g., ActionKit, ActBlue, Blue State Digital, Action Network, NationBuilder, MailChimp), and train junior team members on new CRMs and transitions.
  • Analyze email metrics, compile cohesive monthly reports, derive strategic guidance from results, and present findings and recommendations to clients independently.
  • Serve as day-to-day client contact: coordinate approvals and scheduling, communicate responsively, proactively anticipate client needs, and manage client expectations.
  • Develop monthly content calendars and fundraising goals aligned with best practices, design and run A/B tests, and present test results and recommendations.
  • Build and audit ActBlue fundraising pages and write concise landing page copy that aligns with client branding and digital fundraising best practices.
  • Directly manage, mentor, and train junior email team members: run trainings, hold regular check-ins, provide constructive feedback, support onboarding, and participate in performance evaluations.
  • Manage projects and new client onboarding, coordinate with the product team on landing pages and templates, recommend improvements to email team systems, and contribute to hiring and workload allocation.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of relevant experience in email fundraising or similar roles.
  • Mastery of 3+ common CRMs or fundraising platforms (e.g., ActionKit, ActBlue, Blue State Digital, ActionNetwork, NationBuilder).
  • Proficiency in HTML and CSS as needed to run major email programs and troubleshoot code issues.
  • Mastery of email writing for fundraising, including strong diction, grammar, sentence structure, and the ability to switch voice and tone per client.
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing data and running A/B tests to inform fundraising content and strategy.
  • Ability to independently manage large clients and present reports, analyses, and strategic guidance to clients.
  • Creative writing ability and enthusiasm for testing and data-driven optimization.
  • Informal or formal management or mentorship experience and an interest in helping manage a growing, diverse team.
  • Ability to quickly learn new tools and CRMs; most employees at this level typically need ~24 months to earn promotion to the next level.
