Description

  • Use SQL and other analytical tools to analyze customers, transactions, alerts, TM rules, and risk ratings.
  • Design, implement, maintain, and tune financial crimes compliance models, including transaction monitoring and sanctions screening models.
  • Develop bespoke transaction monitoring rules and sanctions screening logic tailored to Mercury’s AML and sanctions risk.
  • Partner with Compliance, Product, Data, Risk Strategy, Engineering, and Model Risk Management teams on requirements, validation, and monitoring.
  • Translate regulatory requirements into effective analytical frameworks and model configurations.
  • Interpret analytics outputs to identify genuine risk signals, trends, anomalies, and emerging financial crime typologies.
  • Develop and maintain detailed documentation for model configurations, scenarios, thresholds, segments, tuning, and false-positive rules.
  • Evaluate existing detection models and rules to reduce false positives while maintaining regulatory rigor.
  • Build analytics and metrics that track the health and performance of FCC programs.
  • Support model validation and performance monitoring to ensure compliance with internal and regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
  • 8+ years of experience conducting in-depth data analytics, preferably including 5+ years in FCC or AML/Sanctions analytics roles.
  • Deep understanding of AML and Sanctions fundamentals, including principles and regulations.
  • Top-notch SQL skills are required.
  • Experience with Python or similar languages is preferred.
  • Familiarity with modern ML tooling such as scikit-learn and XGBoost is a plus.
  • Experience developing, tuning, and maintaining machine learning or rule-based detection models.
  • Ability to rigorously evaluate model performance and limitations.
  • Experience improving data-related and operational efficiencies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary with equity in the form of stock options or RSUs.
  • Target base salary range of $166,600–$208,300 for NYC, Los Angeles, Seattle, or the San Francisco Bay Area employees.
  • Target base salary range of $149,900–$187,500 for U.S. employees outside those major metro areas.
  • Target base salary range of CAD $157,400–$196,800 for Canadian employees.
  • Benefits package included as part of total rewards.
