Description

  • Lead data privacy strategy and compliance efforts, including privacy notices, data practices, privacy impact assessments, and incident response support.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and Design on new products, features, consent workflows, data collection, user agreements, and regulatory requirements.
  • Advise Marketing on consumer protection, advertising, endorsements, promotions, CAN-SPAM, TCPA, FTC guidance, and related customer-facing matters.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, including customer, vendor, data processing, NDA, marketing, sponsorship, technology, and partnership agreements.
  • Build and improve legal operations such as templates, playbooks, contract management, legal intake, knowledge management, workflows, automation, and internal processes.
  • Leverage AI and legal technology to automate repetitive work and improve legal service delivery.
  • Provide practical legal guidance on matters outside core areas, including corporate transactions, employment, intellectual property, trademarks, and disputes.

Requirements

  • JD from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, or eligibility to register as in-house counsel where required.
  • 5+ years of relevant legal experience, including meaningful in-house experience, ideally at a high-growth technology company.
  • Strong substantive experience in data privacy and product counseling.
  • Working experience in marketing/consumer protection and commercial contracts.
  • Strong legal judgment and ability to translate complex legal requirements into practical business guidance.
  • Experience working in resource-constrained or fast-moving environments that require prioritization, judgment, and adaptability.
  • Curiosity, adaptability, and comfort taking ownership of matters outside your immediate expertise.
  • CIPP/US, CIPP/E, or another privacy certification preferred, with equivalent substantive experience also valued.
  • Experience building or scaling legal processes, templates, playbooks, contract management systems, or other legal operations infrastructure preferred.
  • Comfort using AI-assisted legal tools and a bias toward automating repetitive work preferred.
