Description

  • Own the end-to-end issuer dispute lifecycle, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant resolution of cardholder disputes.
  • Lead the design, development, and execution of issuer-side dispute systems across card networks and multiple payment rails.
  • Build and operate systems for dispute classification, chargeback lifecycles, network rules, evidence workflows, and regulatory timelines.
  • Drive AI-first automation to reduce manual handling and improve efficiency across dispute workflows.
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing engineering team while improving engineering velocity and system reliability.
  • Act as the technical and business-facing leader for customer and network escalations and translate issues into system improvements.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Risk, Compliance, Product, Operations, and Legal on roadmap and dispute strategy.
  • Use automation and intelligent workflows to improve operational excellence across dispute systems.

Requirements

  • 8–12+ years of experience in engineering.
  • 4+ years of experience managing senior engineers or managers.
  • Deep understanding of issuer-side card and money movement disputes.
  • Experience with card network flows and timelines, including Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and AmEx.
  • Hands-on AI-first mindset with experience using AI/ML to improve velocity and automate work.
  • Strong ownership mentality and comfort working in ambiguity.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience influencing cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Comfort engaging directly with enterprise customers and networks on complex issues.
  • Experience integrating with network APIs, such as ISO 8583, is preferred.
  • Background in fintech issuing platforms, core banking, or payments operations is preferred.
  • Prior ownership of dispute automation initiatives that reduced manual effort or losses is preferred.
  • Familiarity with regulatory obligations such as Reg E and PSD2 chargeback rules is preferred.

  • Base salary range of $200,500-$250,600 for National, $210,200-$262,800 for Premium, or $220,000-$275,000 for Premium Plus, depending on work location.
