Description

  • Own end-to-end credit strategy initiatives from framework design through implementation and ongoing monitoring.
  • Build, review, and refine consumer and commercial credit card risk and pricing strategies.
  • Adjust credit card policies based on portfolio performance and emerging risk trends.
  • Set strategies that influence approval rates, new account growth, loss rates, and profit margin.
  • Partner with data scientists to build credit risk and cash flow models.
  • Work with product teams to develop credit stacks and data strategies using financial, bank, and third-party data.
  • Partner with capital markets on securitization structures, warehouse lines, and forward flow deals.
  • Provide analytical support to co-brand partners, including loss forecasts and profitability analysis.
  • Draft underwriting and risk documentation and support model validation and governance with bank partners.
  • Report KPIs and risk performance to senior management and serve as a risk advisor to partners and customers.
  • Lead and mentor a small team of Credit Risk Analysts, including day-to-day prioritization and development.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience building credit card risk and pricing programs, ideally at a fintech.
  • Experience across consumer and/or commercial underwriting.
  • Proven ownership of the full credit card lifecycle, including policy development, approval strategy, line assignment, pricing, partner risk assessment, and acquisition strategy.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, Math, or a related field.
  • Expert-level Excel and SQL modeling skills.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with product, engineering, finance, compliance, bank partners, and capital providers.
  • Ability to translate complex credit concepts for executive, partner, and cross-functional audiences in written and verbal communication.
  • Comfort operating in a fast-paced, build environment with shifting priorities and limited support.
  • Ability to adapt credit strategies based on portfolio performance changes or macroeconomic conditions.
  • Preferred remote work in one of Marqeta's U.S. Premium or National locations.
