Description

  • Lead and mentor a team of 5-6 engineers through performance management, career development, and technical guidance.
  • Own the operation of data lake infrastructure, including S3, Airflow, Kafka/MSK, and Spark/Glue, while maintaining 99.5% uptime.
  • Manage the on-call rotation and support incident response to ensure operational excellence and SLA attainment.
  • Drive agile delivery through sprint planning, capacity planning, requirements analysis, and quarterly infrastructure releases.
  • Gather requirements from data teams, prioritize platform features, and measure adoption to apply product thinking to infrastructure.
  • Translate the data strategy into technical roadmaps, project plans, and measurable outcomes.
  • Partner with security and compliance teams on governance controls and collaborate with vendors on integrations and platform optimization.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in data engineering or data infrastructure.
  • 2+ years of experience leading technical teams at scale.
  • Deep hands-on experience with AWS data services such as S3 and EMR/Glue.
  • Experience with Airflow, Kafka/MSK, and data catalog tools.
  • Strong product thinking and experience translating customer requirements into platform capabilities.
  • Proven agile delivery experience, including capacity planning, sprint execution, and requirements analysis.
  • Track record of operational excellence, including on-call management, incident response, and SLA achievement.
  • Excellent mentoring skills and a passion for developing engineers and building high-performing teams.
  • Authorization to work in Canada and ability to travel quarterly to the United States.
  • Experience in payments or FinTech is a plus.
