Description

  • Own and scale a high-throughput search platform serving 1.5B+ monthly requests and hundreds of millions of listings.
  • Drive the architecture and performance of search systems optimized for latency, relevance, and reliability across Kafka and Elasticsearch.
  • Build and evolve the core home search experience across web and mobile to improve engagement, lead conversion, and agent workflows.
  • Own and extend a centralized notifications platform that delivers tens of millions of emails and SMS messages each month.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to integrate LLMs and intelligent ranking into search and discovery workflows.
  • Shape platform architecture and influence how AI is used to build, review, and ship production software.
  • Lead high-impact initiatives from concept through production in a SaaS environment.
  • Contribute to a highly reliable, extensible system that supports multiple product teams and a multi-tenant platform.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with meaningful time in senior or staff-level roles.
  • Deep expertise in TypeScript, Node.js, and React.
  • Experience designing and operating scalable microservice architectures in cloud-native environments, with AWS preferred.
  • Strong understanding of GraphQL, event-driven systems such as Kafka and SQS, and distributed databases including PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, and Elasticsearch.
  • Proven track record of leading high-impact initiatives from concept through production in a SaaS environment.
  • Expert-level understanding of software design principles and multi-tenant platform architectures.
  • Hands-on experience building with AI tools daily, including Claude Code as a core workflow tool.
  • Strong opinions, loosely held, on how AI changes software architecture, team structure, and engineering culture.
  • Clear and direct communication skills for explaining tradeoffs to product, design, and executive stakeholders.
  • Comfort working in a fast-growing, ambiguous environment where ownership is broad and the roadmap changes quickly.
