Description

  • Own and scale a high-throughput search platform handling 1.5B+ monthly requests and hundreds of millions of listings.
  • Drive the architecture and performance of the real estate search system across Kafka and Elasticsearch.
  • Build and evolve the core home discovery experience across web and mobile.
  • Improve engagement, lead conversion, and agent workflows while maintaining fast, responsive product experiences.
  • Own and extend a centralized notifications platform that delivers millions of emails and SMS messages each month.
  • Ensure notification systems are highly reliable, extensible, and deliverable for product teams.
  • Collaborate with other teams to integrate LLMs and intelligent ranking into search and discovery workflows.
  • Shape platform architecture and help define how AI is used in software delivery and engineering operations.
  • Lead high-impact initiatives from concept through production in a SaaS environment.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with meaningful time in senior or staff-level roles.
  • Deep expertise in TypeScript, Node.js, and React.
  • Experience designing and operating scalable microservice architectures in cloud-native environments, with AWS preferred.
  • Strong understanding of GraphQL, event-driven systems such as Kafka and SQS, and distributed databases including PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, and Elasticsearch.
  • Proven track record of leading high-impact initiatives from concept through production.
  • Expert-level grasp of software design principles.
  • Experience with multi-tenant platform architectures.
  • Hands-on experience building with AI tools daily, including Claude Code as part of the workflow.
  • Strong opinions, loosely held, on how AI changes software architecture, team structure, and engineering culture.
  • Ability to communicate complex tradeoffs clearly to product, design, and executive stakeholders.
