Description

  • Lead and grow the AI & Data Science function by managing, mentoring, and hiring for a small team of ML and data scientists.
  • Define technical strategy and standards for AI architecture, tooling, evaluation methods, and deployment patterns, including MLOps and LLMOps.
  • Build and ship end-to-end AI capabilities from problem framing and data preparation through modeling, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to integrate AI into workflows and product experiences.
  • Work with Security, Privacy, and Legal teams to ensure responsible AI use.
  • Support Sales and Marketing with AI narratives, customer discussions, solutioning, and technical validation when needed.
  • Define success metrics, run experiments, and communicate results and trade-offs to executives and stakeholders.
  • Help the company articulate AI value credibly and responsibly to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Guide delivery prioritization and execution for AI initiatives in a production environment.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to lead an applied AI team in a player-coach capacity and deliver in a production environment.
  • Strong end-to-end ML/AI engineering judgment across data, modeling, evaluation, deployment, monitoring, and iteration.
  • Practical experience with LLMs and modern AI tooling, including prompt/system design, RAG, fine-tuning when appropriate, and evaluation.
  • Ability to translate ambiguous business problems into well-scoped AI work with clear milestones and measurable outcomes.
  • Excellent communication skills for explaining complex trade-offs to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience collaborating with Sales and Marketing on customer-facing AI positioning and solutioning.
  • PhD plus 2 years of industry experience, or master’s plus 4 years, or bachelor’s plus 6 years of industry experience.
  • Field of study in computer science, or at least 3 years of experience as a software developer.
  • Strong Python and modern ML stack experience, including tools such as PyTorch, scikit-learn, data tooling, experimentation, and vector databases.
  • Understanding of modern software development practices such as Git, APIs, containerization, and CI/CD.
  • Experience with model evaluation, guardrails, and observability.
  • Understanding of responsible AI, including privacy, security, governance, and risk controls in regulated or enterprise contexts.
  • Node.js and other backend development skills.
  • Experience in B2B SaaS, compliance, ethics, risk, or enterprise workflows.
  • Experience designing evaluation frameworks for LLM features, including quality, hallucination risk, latency, and cost trade-offs.
  • Prior customer-facing technical leadership experience, such as pre-sales, workshops, or executive briefings.
  • Must be able to work remotely from the UK, US, or India with 4-6 hours of overlap with the US East Coast.
