Description

  • Own and evolve core freight brokerage systems, including quoting, booking, pricing, contracts, carrier compliance, facility matching, and scheduling workflows.
  • Lead technical initiatives across multiple Python/Django services, including design, phased rollout, and safe deprecation.
  • Build and maintain user-facing features in the TypeScript and React web application, including new flows, complex forms, performance fixes, and UX improvements.
  • Integrate frontend work with backend APIs and deliver full-stack features that span both application layers.
  • Drive platform reliability work such as database upgrades, dependency upgrades, search/indexing changes, performance tuning, and deployment safeguards.
  • Implement tooling and patterns that improve migration safety, validation, secrets handling, and operational quality.
  • Ship product and revenue-critical work such as pricing integrations, compliance flows, feature flags, and segmentation strategies.
  • Define and improve engineering standards through ADRs, shared client layers, testing patterns, observability, and code review practices.
  • Respond to production incidents, coordinate war rooms, perform root-cause analysis, and deliver stabilization fixes.
  • Collaborate with product stakeholders on discovery, scope definition, technical options, and outcome presentations, while mentoring teammates through pairing and design review.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience as a software developer or senior full-stack engineer.
  • Proven end-to-end ownership of ambiguous, multi-step projects across API and UI, including design, implementation, rollout, and observability.
  • Strong Python and Django experience, or equivalent deep transfer from substantial production Python web work and/or Java/JVM experience.
  • Strong PostgreSQL expertise, including schema design, production migrations, query plans, indexing, and latency/debugging work.
  • Experience with distributed systems and multi-service environments, including async jobs, queues, events, idempotency, and integration failures.
  • Experience working in large or evolving codebases, including modernization, database/search/runtime upgrades, or performance and cost improvements.
  • Production mindset with on-call or equivalent incident response experience and a focus on stability under operational load.
  • Technical leadership experience through migrations, integrations, architecture decisions, mentoring, and cross-team alignment without relying on formal title.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including design docs, ADRs, RFCs, or review threads.
  • Preferred: strong frontend experience with TypeScript and React, including component design, state management, forms, validation, testing, and debugging in a sizable product codebase.
