Description

  • Lead structured troubleshooting during abnormal operating conditions involving pumps, filtration, viscosity, pressure, flow, and injection systems.
  • Make real-time operational decisions on filtration strategy, heating and viscosity management, recirculation versus injection, escalation, and stop-work authority.
  • Own the site’s interface for PLC, HMI, automation, and downhole-sensor changes, including validation, execution, and troubleshooting.
  • Drive operational reliability and process optimization through disciplined data collection, monitoring, and engineering analysis.
  • Lead the sample, lab, and data-quality program so engineering, regulatory, and operational teams receive usable data quickly.
  • Maintain rigorous shift-handover and engineering communication standards so off-shift staff can reconstruct plant conditions from documentation.
  • Capture abnormal-event investigations, lessons learned, and process improvements in documentation for future site deployment.
  • Partner with the Operations Supervisor to manage scheduling, PTO coverage, staffing continuity, payroll coordination, training matrices, and SOP updates.
  • Serve as the on-site hiring manager for operator-level roles, including sourcing, interviewing, and structured candidate feedback.
  • Support onboarding, operator development, and workforce planning to build a strong bench for continuous operations and future site expansion.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Petroleum, or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent demonstrated technical depth through field operations experience.
  • 7+ years of operating experience in produced-water injection, SWD, EOR, chemical process plants, midstream liquids handling, refining, or comparable fluid-systems operations.
  • Demonstrated experience leading structured troubleshooting for pumps, filters, viscosity, pressure, flow, or injection issues.
  • Experience working with complex industrial fluid systems where operational decisions affect reliability, throughput, and safety.
  • Strong written communication skills for documenting technical findings under uncertain or rapidly changing conditions.
  • Direct supervisory experience leading crews of 20-40 operators across shifts in an industrial environment.
  • Experience owning operational systems such as scheduling, payroll/timecards, training programs, SOP management, and workforce planning.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills in fast-paced, ambiguous, and novel-process environments.
  • Ability to relocate to rural Louisiana for the full 1-2 year assignment, or to travel to the St. Landry site approximately 50-75% of the time if not local.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass pre-employment background, drug, and physical screening.
  • Preferred: hands-on experience with Class I, II, V, or VI injection wells, including downhole pressure and temperature interpretation.
  • Preferred: experience in refinery, terminal, or downstream oil operations involving tanks, pumps, compressors, filtration systems, and related process equipment.
  • Preferred: experience with PLC/HMI-controlled facilities and change management with controls engineers.
  • Preferred: hiring-manager experience in payroll-regulated environments using ADP, Kronos, UKG, or similar systems.
  • Preferred: experience writing and improving SOPs, MOCs, incident investigations, and abnormal-event reports.
  • Preferred: track record of scaling operations teams from startup crews into fully staffed 24/7 organizations.
  • Preferred: leadership experience across multiple locations or states.
  • Preferred: comfort working with novel processes and unconventional feedstocks such as bio-oil and biogenic materials.
