Description

  • Serve as the engineering anchor for the platform and provide technical direction, patterns, and quality standards.
  • Own the platform architecture and long-range technical strategy in alignment with product leadership.
  • Set coding standards, testing strategy, review practices, and the definition of done.
  • Own the design and delivery of significant platform components and domain areas.
  • Contribute production code across the stack in TypeScript on the backend and frontend.
  • Design data models, migrations, and schema evolution strategies for PostgreSQL.
  • Design API contracts and integration patterns for external platforms and third-party APIs.
  • Build and improve agentic AI development workflows, guardrails, prompts, specs, and context-sharing patterns.
  • Collaborate with platform engineering on deployment architecture, CI/CD, containerized services, infrastructure design reviews, and observability.
  • Mentor engineers through code review, pairing, and design discussions while translating business needs into technical plans.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Deep expertise in TypeScript across the stack, including Node and modern React.
  • Strong experience with a backend framework and ORM such as Express and MikroORM, or comparable tools.
  • Experience with relational database design, query optimization, and migration management.
  • Proven track record of designing and evolving well-architected systems end to end.
  • Demonstrated history of shipping working software to customers.
  • Experience setting technical direction for a team and mentoring other engineers.
  • Familiarity with RESTful API design, authentication flows, and multi-tenant SaaS patterns.
  • Experience with containerized deployments such as Docker, ECS, or Kubernetes.
  • AI must be central to how you ship, with high autonomy using agents and agent workflows.
  • Preferred: tech lead or technical anchor experience on a high-performing team.
  • Preferred: large-scale platform migration experience, including merging applications or consolidating data models.
  • Preferred: experience in home-services, field-service, or contractor SaaS domains.
  • Preferred: deep PostgreSQL or MikroORM experience.
  • Preferred: experience with RBAC and permission systems.
  • Preferred: experience with observability platforms and distributed tracing.
  • Preferred: experience building developer tooling or AI workflows that measurably improved team speed.
