Description

  • Translate ambiguous requirements into robust system designs and implementations.
  • Own features end-to-end from initial development through production deployment and ongoing operations and maintenance.
  • Design, build, and maintain high-throughput, low-latency services in C++, Go, and Python.
  • Iterate on historic and simulated data to test, tune, and validate algorithms before production release.
  • Design high-performance inter-application communication and data interfaces for real-time data exchange.
  • Design and optimize data structures, Protobuf serialization, and Redis Streams for real-time workloads.
  • Architect data pipelines from raw sensor ingestion through transformation, storage, and delivery.
  • Implement and integrate tracking, inference, and sensor fusion algorithms into production services.
  • Develop REST APIs and internal/external service integrations.
  • Improve observability through monitoring, logging, alerting, documentation, and runbooks for critical systems.
  • Operate containerized services on Kubernetes in GCP using Argo and Helm.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with a generalist backend and systems focus.
  • Deep experience building, tuning, and operating real-time systems.
  • Strong proficiency in C++ preferred, with experience implementing high-performance, low-latency production algorithms.
  • Python proficiency for prototyping preferred.
  • Proven ability to use historic and simulated data to iterate on algorithms and system logic.
  • Strong knowledge of data interfaces, IPC, high-speed messaging, and strict inter-application communication protocols.
  • Deep expertise in algorithms, data structures, and system internals, including complexity, memory constraints, and behavior under load.
  • Experience with streaming data systems such as Redis Streams or Kafka.
  • Experience with NumPy, SciPy, Pandas, GCP or comparable cloud infrastructure, Docker/Kubernetes, and IaC/CI/CD tools such as Terraform, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.
  • Comfort working in Linux and with AI-assisted coding tools such as Claude Code or Cursor.
  • Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Domain experience in transportation, robotics, autonomous vehicles, or sensor-heavy systems preferred.
  • Familiarity with Kalman filters, Bayesian methods, and sensor fusion preferred.
  • Experience with GCP data products such as BigQuery, Cloud Storage, and Pub/Sub, or AI/ML workflows, feature stores, or model serving infrastructure preferred.
  • Familiarity with nanomsg, OpenTelemetry, Buck2, or early-stage startup environments preferred.
