Description

  • Design and build backend services for financial workflows and transaction processing using Java and modern JVM frameworks.
  • Own features end to end, including the data model, services, APIs, and Angular frontend components.
  • Build and maintain APIs for internal services, external integrations, and the company frontend.
  • Contribute to architectural discussions and help evolve service-oriented, event-driven systems.
  • Improve system reliability, performance, and observability across the stack.
  • Refactor and modernize legacy systems as the platform evolves.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and implement long-term fixes.
  • Partner with product and design to turn requirements into tested features.
  • Participate in code reviews and uphold engineering standards.
  • Use AI-powered development tools to accelerate design, implementation, testing, debugging, and documentation while validating correctness and security.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a backend engineer in a production environment.
  • Deep experience building backend services with Java and modern JVM frameworks.
  • Experience designing APIs and service-oriented systems.
  • Experience with relational databases and large datasets.
  • Experience with distributed systems and event-driven architectures.
  • Working proficiency with Angular preferred, or Vue/React, plus TypeScript.
  • Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants such as Claude, Copilot, Cursor, or similar.
  • Strong judgment on when to rely on AI tooling versus human review, especially for security and financial workflows.
  • Highly self-reliant with strong debugging, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience in regulated industries such as financial services or cannabis is a plus.
