Description

  • Write donor-facing materials including solicitation letters, stewardship reports, impact updates, proposals, acknowledgment letters, newsletter content, and other engagement communications.
  • Tailor messaging for different donor audiences, including annual fund supporters, mid-level donors, major gift prospects, and planned giving audiences.
  • Collaborate with Communications to identify and develop stories that highlight KIND’s impact while protecting the dignity and safety of people served.
  • Draft correspondence and briefing materials for senior Development staff and organizational leadership for donor meetings, events, and high-priority communications.
  • Produce timely content that reflects current programs, policy developments, and the evolving operating environment.
  • Ensure fundraising content aligns with KIND’s brand voice, messaging framework, and style guidelines.
  • Participate in cross-departmental content planning to align fundraising narratives with broader organizational communications strategies.
  • Monitor the political, legal, and media landscape relevant to KIND’s mission and adjust messaging accordingly.
  • Support rapid-response donor communications when major news or policy developments affect the organization.
  • Manage multiple writing projects, maintain a donor communications calendar, and edit or proofread content from Development colleagues.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in communications, journalism, English, nonprofit management, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional writing experience, including at least 2 years in fundraising, development, or advocacy communications.
  • Exceptional writing skills across long-form and short-form formats for diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience tailoring communications for annual fund, mid-level, and major gift donors.
  • Strong understanding of, or keen interest in, U.S. immigration policy, child protection, and related humanitarian issues.
  • Ability to translate complex programmatic and policy content into accessible donor language.
  • Experience collaborating with communications or marketing teams to ensure brand consistency and message alignment.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced, remote environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; Salesforce experience preferred and familiarity with digital email platforms is a plus.
  • Experience working in a remote environment preferred but not required.

  • Salary range of $75,515 to $92,394 per year.
