Description

Lead the design and evolution of large-scale systems and architectures for scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
Drive the adoption of AI-assisted development practices and connect them to engineering velocity, product quality, and business outcomes.
Define and guide technical vision and strategy across teams to align with product and organizational goals.
Partner with engineering and product leadership to shape technical priorities and influence roadmap decisions.
Navigate ambiguous problem spaces, define technical approaches, and drive clarity and alignment across teams.
Influence architecture, design patterns, and engineering best practices across multiple teams.
Provide code review guidance and technical feedback to maintain high standards for code quality and design.
Drive resolution of complex technical issues and identify systemic patterns to prevent recurrence.
Improve observability, monitoring, and operational practices to ensure system health, availability, and reliability.
Lead efforts to reduce technical debt, modernize systems, and guide re-platforming execution across teams.

Requirements

B.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
8+ years of professional software engineering experience with technical leadership across complex, cross-team initiatives.
Strong computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and industry-standard design patterns and practices.
Deep experience designing and evolving large-scale distributed, high-performance systems and architectures.
Hands-on experience designing, deploying, and operating production applications on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
Practical knowledge of cloud-native services across compute, storage, networking, and managed data, plus cloud architecture and security best practices.
Proven ability to operate in ambiguous problem spaces and drive clarity, alignment, and execution across teams.
Strong ability to influence technical direction and drive alignment without direct authority.
Strong understanding of unit, integration, and end-to-end testing strategies, with a bias toward automated coverage at scale.
Deep experience with observability practices, including structured logging, metrics, distributed tracing, and alerting.
Forward-looking approach to AI-assisted development, including leading adoption of AI tooling across engineering teams.
Experience with full stack and API development across frontend and backend layers.
Proficiency in one or more of Rust, C#, and JavaScript.
Proficiency with modern authentication and authorization mechanisms such as OAuth 2.0, OIDC, and SAML.
Experience maintaining and operating production services at scale, including incident response and post-mortem facilitation.
Extensive experience with distributed and microservices-based architectures.
Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
Experience with cloud-native infrastructure patterns such as serverless architectures, managed Kubernetes, and infrastructure as code tools like Terraform, Pulumi, or Bicep.
Experience leading modern security practices, including secure coding standards, threat modeling, and vulnerability remediation.
Experience with CI/CD systems and modern software delivery practices, including automated testing gates and progressive deployment strategies.
Strong familiarity with relational and non-relational data stores and the tradeoffs between them.

Benefits

Base salary range of $243,450 to $263,450 CAD.
