Description

  • Lead and grow Karat’s India-based engineering organization while partnering with U.S.-based engineering leaders.
  • Own engineering delivery across multiple product areas, from technical approach through launch, operation, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead development of enterprise workflows, self-service hubs, ATS integrations, candidate funnel tools, and post-interview decisioning products.
  • Improve delivery operations tooling, messaging and notification infrastructure, cost efficiency, and payment operations.
  • Evaluate and apply emerging technologies, including AI-assisted workflows, to advance Karat’s interviewing and technical-assessment platform.
  • Hire, coach, and develop engineers and engineering managers while building local leadership capacity.
  • Delegate product, technical, and people-leadership ownership across teams.
  • Build effective relationships between India-based employees and global counterparts.
  • Work a schedule that overlaps with U.S. business hours.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 5+ years managing engineers.
  • Demonstrated experience shipping and operating customer-facing hosted SaaS products in production.
  • Strong technical depth in AI-driven technologies and the ability to contribute to architecture, design reviews, code reviews, and technical tradeoffs.
  • Experience leading the full software development lifecycle, from product planning and technical design through launch and ongoing improvement.
  • Experience hiring, coaching, and performance-managing engineers; experience managing engineering managers is preferred.
  • Track record of improving engineering culture, development processes, technical systems, reliability, security, and technical debt management.
  • Experience working across geographically distributed teams, preferably between India and the United States.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Ability to serve as a trusted local leader aligned with global company priorities.
  • Must reside in Bengaluru; applications must be submitted entirely in English.
