Description

  • Define and maintain security baselines for AWS, Google Cloud, Linux, and internally hosted platforms.
  • Design and enforce identity, least-privilege access, secrets, certificate, network, and machine-image security controls.
  • Automate compliance checks, asset inventories, evidence collection, exception reporting, and remediation tracking.
  • Define service health indicators and service-level objectives, and engineer automated recovery, backups, and disaster recovery.
  • Lead availability and security incident response, stakeholder communications, and blameless post-incident reviews.
  • Own observability architecture, including metrics, logs, retention, dashboards, and actionable alerting.
  • Design secure networking across cloud and self-hosted environments, including segmentation, DNS, TLS, routing, firewalls, VPN, and zero-trust connectivity.
  • Lead cloud workload migrations, service consolidation and retirement, and cost governance for cloud and HPC environments.
  • Write, test, and maintain platform automation; lead design and code reviews; mentor engineers; and promote maintainable, standard technologies.
  • Collaborate with nuclear, scientific, and other engineering teams to translate security requirements into practical solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, physics, mathematics, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in platform, infrastructure, cloud, security, or site reliability engineering, including production cloud infrastructure.
  • Strong AWS and Linux administration, hardening, and troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code, configuration management, programming, or scripting, preferably Python or another general-purpose language.
  • Experience implementing access management, network security, secrets management, vulnerability management, and security monitoring controls.
  • Experience operating monitoring, recovery, and incident-response capabilities for production systems.
  • Ability to make maintainable technical tradeoffs across security, reliability, performance, cost, and complexity.
  • Google Cloud experience, particularly designing new environments, preferred.
  • Experience with cloud cost management, HPC security, container security, self-hosted engineering services, vulnerability automation, or compliance evidence automation preferred.
  • Some travel, occasional weekends, schedule flexibility, and extended hours for critical launches may be required; DOE Part 810 authorization may apply.
